The Artists
Roger has been playing keyboards, both acoustic and electronic, for most of his life. His earliest musical memory is listening to his mother play piano as a young boy. She taught him to play the piano, beginning a long musical journey which lead through both sacred and secular contexts: worship-music (traditional + contemporary), original bands, accompanying, songwriting, teaching and playing almost any instrument with a keyboard.
Roger formerly played in the RAF Salon Orchestra (UK) which saw him play for many VIP audiences including members of the Royal Family. Since moving to Australia, Roger has been involved with reception/event bands such as the Baker Boys Band, show bands such as Yacht Rock Revival and accompanying various local icons including Kate Ceberano. Toto’s music has a special place in Roger’s heart since playing some of their early songs with his first band as a teenager back in the UK. He especially appreciates their unique blend of melodic rock with classical, jazz and other influences, and the unique keyboard sounds and styles of Steve Porcaro, David Paich and Greg Phillinganes. Favourite Toto albums: Toto IV, Falling in between, Mindfields, Hydra.
Dancing and singing from the young age of 3 Amanda realised her love for singing, especially harmonies, in her Grade 6 school choir. Attending Reservoir High School - known for their music program and musical theatre shows - kickstarted 30+ years of performing. She went from playing her first lead role as little orphan Annie to one of her most memorable roles playing Florence in Chess the Musical, a rock opera written by Benny & Bjorn from ABBA. Over the years Amanda has also performed numerous behind-the-scenes roles from Production Manager to Stage Manager to Secretary with a community theatre company known as Catchment Players.
After a break from performing, Amanda was encouraged by her brother Ash to try something outside her musical theatre comfort zone as backing singer for Hydra. She greatly enjoys this challenge and loves the musical blend she and Millie have together.
She only wishes her mum was still with us to witness her 2 children performing together on the same stage.
